The Klausen pass at an elevation of 1,948 m is a Swiss pass, which connects the cantons of Uri and Glarus.
The Klausen pass at an elevation of 1,948 m is a Swiss pass, which connects the cantons of Uri and Glarus. It extends from Altdorf in the Uri canton through the Schächten valley over the summit of the pass and the Urnerboden up to Linthal in the Glarus canton. The border at the summit runs between the Unterschächen township and Urnerboden. Because of its complex routing the Klausen pass is considered to be very challenging. The area around the Klausen pass is one of the most beautiful Swiss pass landscapes. The route takes you along the high route of the Schächen valley, past stunning landscapes, majestic mountains and a unique flora and fauna.
